The Black Woman
Oh, hey again!
What do you say we get to know each other? Yes? Amazing! Okay, I'll go first.
Scroll down to learn more about me, where I'm from, what I do, what I like and what I don't. Not the full story, but it's a start. 😊
THE REAL(ER) ME
I can obviously look like what you've seen on this website so far, but here is a more accurate representation of what I look like every day.
All AboutMe
Who I am and where I'm from
My name is Danielle Ndende.

I was born in Yaoundé, Cameroon, where I spent the first 21 years of my life (technically, that was 20 years, 11 months, and 12 days).
Where I live
MTL.
I moved to Canada on December 1st, 2020. I landed in Toronto and lived there for three and a half years before moving to Montreal.
What I like and what drives me
I love fried plantains. And cocktails. And lemonade. And croissants. And getting my nails done.

The pursuit of happiness (which I've had to redefine in recent years), as well as my dreams and passions, are what motivates me. Could I be more clichée?

I am passionate about mental health and have been on a healing and self-betterment journey. Therapy has been a great help in that process.

Oh, and I love fried plantains!
Where I went to school
I don't like to include my education (or profession, for that matter) when introducing myself, but I suspect some people might want to know, so here we go:

I graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics from the Catholic University of Central Africa in Yaoundé, Cameroon, before moving to the U.S. for grad school. I was initially going for a master's in management but ended up getting an MBA from Roosevelt University in Chicago. Took a marketing class that I loved and decided to learn more. So, for this and other reasons, I moved to Canada and graduated with a Master of Marketing from the Schulich School of Business in Toronto.
Where I work and what I do
I am… an author? *Clears throat.*
*Ahem ahem.*

“I am an author,” she said, raising her voice a notch and lifting her chin slightly. She was still adjusting to this new reality, to this word she would now use in the context of her life. Many questions were still swirling in her mind, but despite the uncertainty, she was excited. This was now evident on her face. Her lips relaxed into a smile before she added, “I wrote a memoir titled Dreams Come and Mine Will Too: a Memoir of Renewed Hope. It's a pleasure to meet you.”
The Blog is what I’ll use to continue writing and to stay in touch with my readers. You can read the first post to see what you can expect, and don't forget to subscribe to The Newsletter!
Bonus: Fun fact
This is more of a weird fact than a fun fact, but for about 10 years, I did not have any lashes. I had this bad habit of picking at them every time I was bored or when I was studying, or for no reason at all.
For a short period in primary and middle school, I had no brows either; that was usually around exams. I later learned this was a response to stress.

I managed to stop picking at my brows sometime in middle school, but only stopped picking at my lashes when I got tired of not being able to wear mascara or apply falsies. Yeah...

Keep in mind we're still getting to know each other, so you're not allowed to make jokes or laugh too hard!
