Oh, hey! Ça va ? So… let’s talk about The Playlist. As I’ve mentioned before, the songs I curated for it are ones that comforted me over the years and that I listened to while writing The Book. The selection process wasn’t arbitrary at all, nor was it simply based on taste. I do like all the songs I selected, but that’s not the only reason I selected them.
Prefer to listen?
To make it into The Playlist, a song needed to have been playing in my ears or in my room continuously for several weeks. I also needed to have come back to it multiple times after listening to something else (without forcing myself, of course). All 28 songs passed the test, which means they hold a special place in my heart. However, each song also has a specific story or event attached to it, something I remember when I listen to that song.
Those events, stories, and memories are what I’d like to share throughout this series that I’m starting—The Stories Behind The Playlist. Some songs have multiple stories or memories attached to them, but throughout this series, you’ll learn about the very first memory related to a song. As we spend more time together on The Blog, you’ll have the opportunity to discover other stories behind specific songs.
How it’s going to work
There are 28 songs in total on The Playlist, and I’ve divided this series into six parts. The first four will tell the stories behind 5 songs, while the last two will tell four stories each. For every song, I will give the following information:
The year the song was released.
The year I listened to the song for the first time (if I can remember).
The year(s) the story or event related to it actually occurred.
The story or event or memory itself.
Key lyrics (the ones that really hit me, you know?).
Keywords related to that period of my life or to the story.
Where relevant, I’ll also include photos, specifically of those of my wall of motivational quotes and verses (you’ll soon find out what it is 😉).
Disclaimer
In some stories, I will reference The Book for context. In doing so, I am by no means trying to make you buy it; the buying decision remains in your hands. 😊
The content of these stories may also be triggering, so your discretion is advised.
So… see you later this week for Part I? Can’t wait!
Câlins,
Danielle
