Oh, hey! Ça va ? Welcome to The Blog!
For my first post here, I’d like to give you an overview of The Blog and the type of content you’ll come across. Super excited about this and I hope you come along!

Why I started The Blog
This is actually not my first attempt at a blog. Some of you may have seen this website I created in 2020 as part of a Digital Marketing class I was taking at the time. Good practice, but I only did it to complete the assignment and didn’t publish another post after the class ended. I was also one of five Managing Editors of The Future of Marketing Magazine that year. As such, I needed to write an article of my own, which was published at the end of my program.
Even before that, in 2018, I tried starting a personal blog to help me escape from my reality at the time, but it didn’t work out. I only wrote one post–which I never shared–and never went back to write another one. That post is super cringey and I can’t believe I’m about to share it here. I wrote it on the day I deleted my social media apps. Once you read The Book, this will make more sense. Before I share it, promise you won’t laugh? Pinky promise? Okay, here you go. Remember, you promised!
Back to something less embarrassing. So, how did The Blog as you see it now in 2024 come to be? Well… as you already know, I wrote a memoir. While I was going through the process of creating my author’s website, I initially thought I’d do something very simple, like a landing page with some information about me and links to purchase The Book. Part of my hesitation to do something more elaborate was the fact that I felt overwhelmed: I built The Website all on my own, and in the beginning, I didn’t have much confidence in my ability to do it all from scratch.
This website has come a long way since I started working on it in the summer of 2021. I obviously did not work on it every single day; in fact, I didn’t work on it at all in 2022. But as time went by, I began to feel more comfortable, relishing the confidence boost that came with a completed design or a successful integration. I enjoyed the process and realized I could–and wanted to–do much more than just a landing page. I wanted to stay in touch with my readers and continue sharing stories, many that I hope will help someone somewhere feel a little less alone.
And here we are.
What you can expect
Oh, hey! If you can hear me, then that’s one thing you can expect here: audioblogs. Somewhere along the way, I had this idea of not just publishing written blog posts, but audio ones, too. This was after deciding to offer my memoir in an audiobook format, but before recording it. Not every written post on The Blog will have an audio version, but whenever it does, you will see an “Audioblog” tag at the bottom of the page, in addition to the audio player at the top.
Interestingly enough, I didn’t think I’d write very long posts. When I first thought about adding a Blog section to this site, I thought my posts would be shorter than what I’d seen elsewhere. This time, it wasn’t because of a self-limiting belief; I suppose I just hadn’t yet discovered I liked writing. Or maybe I secretly knew I did, but hadn’t admitted it to myself. Either way, I have now come to terms with the fact that some of my posts will be longer than the average. This is partly why I’ll be offering audio versions.
Topics will include my journey as a self-published author, from writing and publishing a book, to building and running a company. On another note, I have come to appreciate writing as a means of healing and am very passionate about mental health, so you can expect to read (or hear 😉) about that, too. And if you have any suggestions, I am all ears.
In terms of frequency, let’s start with once or twice a week and see how that goes. Oh, and by the way, every post–written or otherwise–will be published in English and French.
That’s it for today. Until my next post, stay well, physically and mentally.
Câlins,
Danielle
P.S. I don’t want to hear about that post on Blogger. Can we please pretend you never saw it? Kay, thanks, bye!
Brilliant! Congratulations and thank you for sharing your precious journey. Hungry for more...Cheers.
