THE STORY THAT STARTED IT ALL
My memoir is the story of making a dream I didn’t know I had come true. It covers the seven years of my life between 2017 and 2024, but I also go back in time to contextualize some of my mental health struggles. With mental health being a central theme, I chose to release my memoir on October 10, World Mental Health Day.
From dreams and faith to career and even personal finance, you’ll discover my experience navigating new spaces, first as an international student, then as a Black professional in North America.
More than a personal story, my memoir offers a comforting perspective on pursuing your dreams, especially when life doesn’t unfold as planned: its twists and turns may just be the catalyst that puts you on the path to who you were meant to be.
What happens when the dream you’ve been chasing no longer fits the person you’re becoming?
In Dreams Come True, and Mine Will Too: A Memoir of Renewed Hope, Danielle Ndende shares a moving journey of self-discovery as she goes from one country to another in pursuit of a childhood dream. Confronted with the realities of navigating new cultures and systems as a young Black woman, her faith–in God, in herself, and in her dreams–is tested. Setbacks chip away at her hope until she finds herself back in a place she’d managed to escape.
This memoir reveals what it means to rebuild your identity when life keeps pulling you back to the same hard places. Honest and vulnerable, Danielle’s story is a reminder that even in our darkest moments, there is still hope for our dreams, and letting go of the old frees us to embrace the new.

THE PICTURES WORTH 125,000 WORDS
Some images that inspired my memoir.
From journals and planners (including the one where I wrote my mantra before I knew it would become the title of my memoir) to major milestones and meaningful symbols, this album is a visual glimpse into my book. There may be some spoilers, so you might want to read it first. 😉

The Playlist
Here are a few songs I (re)discovered over the years that comforted me. I listened to all of them while writing my memoir and mentioned a few in it.
I start the playlist off slow with hope-rebuilding songs and end it on a more cheerful note. Songs #23 to #25 are a tribute to my mom (she is still alive, and I wouldn't have it any other way).
Andrea Bocelli is my favorite artist, so it’s only right that I included a song by him in this playlist; it’s one of my favorites, and I saved it for last. 😉
I love all the songs on this playlist, but each one has a specific memory attached to it. The series The Stories Behind The Playlist recounts the memories behind each song. Some stories are covered in more detail in my memoir, while others are separate but complementary to my book.
